ACH Error R76 - What is this?
ACH code R76 indicates that the receiving bank has rejected an Automated Clearing House (ACH) transaction because the company identification provided is incorrect or does not match the receiving bank’s records.
The ACH network is used for electronic funds transfers, such as direct deposit of payroll, vendor payments, and other financial transactions. To ensure the accuracy and security of ACH transactions, each participant in the network is assigned a unique identification number, known as a routing number.
A company must provide its routing number, account number, and other transaction details when it initiates an ACH transaction. If the routing number provided is incorrect or does not match the receiving bank’s records, the transaction will be rejected with an R76 code.
To resolve this issue, the company should double-check its routing number and ensure accuracy. They should also confirm the name and account number associated with the routing number are correct. If the issue persists, the company should contact their bank or financial institution for assistance.
