Dual Pricing is a Win-Win.

Empower your customers to use cash and save money! With Zenti Dual Pricing, customers save with discounted pricing when they pay with cash. Merchants save on processing cards by including a convenience fee on all non-cash transactions.

Free Credit Card Processing is a Myth.

Fairytales are great for bedtime stories, not for merchant services. Stop listening to companies who claim they offer free credit card processing, you’re smart enough to know that everything comes with a price. Our price (and honesty) just happens to be better than the majority of merchant service providers out there. See how we didn’t say better than all?  It’s that honesty thing again.

In an effort to make sure that our customers are always getting the best rates and options available, Zenti has launched our Dual Pricing Program for merchants who have the ability to accept cash payments. This Dual Pricing Program offers discounts to customers who pay with cash, saving both you and your customer money! You pass on a percentage of your card processing fees to the customer to help improve your bottom line and reduce payment costs.

Is Dual Pricing a Good Fit for My Business?

Dual Pricing Programs are ideal for retail businesses that have a low average ticket price, around $10-$15. Why? In an increasingly cashless economy, consumers are starting to carry cash less and less often. However, Dual Pricing is also great for service-based companies where customers can plan in advance to get cash out from their local ATM. (Or get an ATM from us!).

Here are a few industries we work with that benefit most from switching to Dual Pricing. Don’t see your industry on the list? No problem! Contact our experts to discuss if Dual Pricing may be a good fit for you.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dual Pricing

It’s a really cool payment processing method that rewards customers who pay with cash! Merchants offer a discount to those who pay with cash, and apply a small fee to those who choose to pay with credit or debit cards.

This way, merchants can save money by not having to cover the costs associated with credit card transactions and pass on those savings to customers who use cash. It’s a win-win situation – customers save money and merchants save too!

As the merchant, you set a baseline price for your products or services, which assumes a cash payment. When customers choose to pay with a card, a small fee or percentage is added to cover the processing costs.

The higher price reflects this additional fee, and the difference between the two prices is the discount given to cash-paying customers.

Dual Pricing is legal in the United States, as long as it is properly implemented and complies with card network rules and regulations. The Dodd-Frank Act of 2010 explicitly permits merchants to offer discounts for different payment methods, including cash. However, it’s essential for businesses to ensure compliance with applicable laws and guidelines, and consult with legal professionals or merchant services providers for guidance.

You can offer your customers a maximum 4% discount for paying with cash for your products or services.

Implementing Dual Pricing requires specific equipment or software to properly calculate and display the different prices based on the payment method chosen by the customer. This can include point-of-sale (POS) systems or payment terminals capable of handling Dual Pricing functionalities.

Your Account Executive at Zenti can help you select the proper equipment for your needs during the onboarding process.

With Dual Pricing there are absolutely no processing fees on card transactions. However, other non-cash payment types will still acquire a small processing fee since these payment types don’t qualify for this discount. The majority if not all of these fees would be covered by the higher cost per item for non-cash payments.

Also note that your account will still have standard compliance and merchant account costs associated with it.

Our team completes each registration on your behalf and helps walk you through updating pricing in your system. We also provide you with all necessary signage templates for you to rebrand to your business, keeping customers informed—and keeping you compliant.

Dual Pricing, when done compliantly, is legal in all 50 states. Some states have more specific regulations around Dual Pricing, so make sure to discuss this further with your Account Executive.

The total amount you can save depends on various factors, including transaction volume, average ticket size, and the specific pricing structure. Businesses often see significant reductions in card processing fees, typically ranging from 50% to 100% of their original costs.

However, it’s essential to consult with your Zenti Account Executive to get a more accurate estimate and decide if Dual Pricing is right for you.
